Port Blair, the capital of the Indian Union territory- the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is a town on the South Andaman Island. Known for its vibrant nightlife, lively culture, museums, and numerous sightseeing spots, tourists travel to this interesting destination owing to its lush green forests and the rugged coastline that add charm to the beauty of this wonderland.
There is a lot to see and do in Port Blair- from handicrafts to local food and shopping spots. When you are here, your itinerary must include Cellular Jail, Corbyn’s Cove Beach, Anthropological Museum, Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, and Samudrika Naval Marine Museum.
The Andaman Islands are a paradise on earth that is snuggled in the Indian Ocean. The region is known for its amazingly pristine beaches as well as a colonial past. The Andamans flaunt as many as 572 islands, out of which only a few are inhabited. And in Port Blair, apart from knowing about the historical events, you will also see a fair share of nature and beauty.
{show_package package-id="52,16,62,65" title="Our Package"}
There are two ways by which you can reach the capital town of the Andamans- via air and water. Let’s explore each option below:
Veer Savarkar International Airport, the only commercial airport of the Andaman Islands, is located in Port Blair. Direct flights to/from a few cities such as Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore are available easily. Flights are faster and more comfortable. Thus, it is a preferred option. However, you should know that there are no direct flights to Andaman Island from everywhere. For instance, if you are flying from Delhi or Mumbai, then you will have a layover in Hyderabad or somewhere else. From there, you will be flying to Port Blair, the capital of the island.
As of now, no international ship or flight services exist in the Andaman Islands. However, Veer Savarkar Airport has been turned as an official immigration check post by the Indian government so that non-natives can enter and exit directly from there.
Pro Travel Tip - Taking an early morning flight will help you in utilising the rest of the day.
You can also reach Port Blair by sailing from the ports of Kolkata, Chennai, and Vishakhapatnam. Operated by the Indian government, the voyage via these ships takes nearly three to four days (50-60 hours). Haddo Wharf is the main seaport in the town. Three to four sailings take place from Chennai and Kolkata, and only one sailing from Visakhapatnam every month.
You should know in advance that these passenger ships are not cruise liners and thus, do not have entertainment and food options. Moreover, booking can only be done from the shipping corporation offices in Chennai, Vizag, and Kolkata. The booking process is quite time-consuming. Online booking is not available. Ships are cheaper but general passenger ships are more troublesome.
If you are travelling between May and October, then seasickness is also common. However, if you want to experience a voyage amidst the blue sea, then we recommend a ship journey. It is an unusual adventure in itself.
There is no way one can reach the Andaman Islands by train from anywhere in the world. Also, no buses are available to the islands. You can cross the Bay of Bengal either via flit or ship only.

{show_package package-id="50,14,16,30" title="Our Package"}
If you have selected Andaman Island for celebrating the beginning of your new life, then it is obvious to picture yourself standing on a lovely beach with an azure ocean in the backdrop while you gently put your head on your lover’s shoulder. This island is popular for having these kinds of beaches that provide a dreamy background. But you have to keep in mind your budget before finalizing the beach.
Havelock Island, renamed as Swaraj Dweep in 2018, is a great choice for a beach destination wedding in Andamans. A sweet intimate wedding celebration with close friends and family members and a cocktail party afterward amid the miraculous beauty is what you will be offered here. We would definitely recommend Havelock Island Beach Resort to you if you are looking for hassle-free arrangements.
Along with taking care of crucial services like that of decorators, caterers, florists, etc., this popular resort will also ensure that all your guests are transferred smoothly. It’s your wedding and we want you to only focus on making the most of this beautiful time. Rest everything else on this reliable beach property.
Another option is to plan your beach wedding in Port Blair. It’s the capital city and thus, is more accessible than other locations. Not competing with the level of charming Havelock Island, this destination can also be considered.
You should not choose any date around the monsoons in Andaman that arrives here in early May and stays for a few months. Andaman has also experienced hurricanes and stormy weather in a few areas. We understand that the weather cannot be predicted six months in advance, but kindly make sure that you have a backup plan at the chosen venue in case of any climatic calamity. For instance, along with the wedding decorations at the beach, you can also get a banquet hall lightly decorated on standby. It won’t take much of your efforts but will prove to be exceptionally beneficial in those rare times.
We would definitely suggest you to try some innovative ideas with your wedding invitation. A unique request sent by you to your guests to attend your wedding is something that they will never forget. You can put your card inside a glass bottle filled with some sand and seashells. Some couples also create a beach-themed wedsite featuring the venue and travel details along with a wish list of gifts. All this will add to a great build-up for a destination wedding. How does that sound? Chic and classy, right
Many couples limit the guest list because they want all their guests should stay in the same hotel so that attending everyone becomes easier. That’s why picking such a property becomes mandatory that can accommodate all of them so that there is uniform hospitality and hassle-free management. Keeping all these crucial requirements in mind, we highly recommend Havelock Island Beach Resort because it can even offer you excellent services if your list comprises three-digit guests. Booking the resort for particular dates is not an easy job, but advance planning can help you in getting your job done.
You will get a diverse variety of food here including seafood, which is of course the highlight and top suggestion. Décor for the destination using fresh flowers, etc. will also be taken care of by the resort. Hair and makeup experts, mehndi artists, photographers, and priests will also be arranged easily. This will save your efforts for sure.
Indian weddings are known for attracting relatives from far and wide- if not in thousands, then in hundreds for sure. It is a joyous occasion of nearly a week of festivities and excessive photo opportunities. A beach wedding would anyway have a bigger draw as most of your guests will be clubbing their own holiday after attending the wedding ceremony.
Keeping in mind an Andaman wedding, usually people would limit their guest list to 50-70 guests owing to the stay arrangements and logistics. Don’t you think that it’s a big challenge for you to decide whom to include and whom to leave? Your school BFFs and workplace seniors would also be required to be added to the list along with close relatives. The whole task would require a lot of maneuvering. Fortunately, you don’t have to worry even a single bit if you pick Havelock Island Beach resort as your wedding destination. The super-spacious beach property is capable of accommodating your guests even if they add up to three digits.
There are ferries plying from Port Blair that take nearly two and a half hours to reach Havelock Island. From there, the resort’s cars will pick up all your guests and drop them safely at the destination. All you need to do is make a request in advance.

Tips to Find the Perfect Restaurant
Finding a perfect restaurant is not as easy as it seems, especially when travelling to an unknown place. There are many pros and cons to weigh out when making this decision because one bad item or an unhygienic place can make your stomach go for a toss, ruining that perfectly planned holiday. Below mentioned are some tips to find the perfect restaurant when you are in uncharted territory.
Eat what you see – More often than not, if it smells good, it tastes good. Sometimes, it is ok to go with the flow, and if you see or smell something that you like, chances are, It will be good. Always go for cooked food as opposed to raw items like salads. Things with live counters are safer as you can see what is being made in front of you.
Word of mouth – Local guides, hotel staff and fellow tourists are your best option for recommendations. It is these personal experiences that can help you make an informed decision. Even online reviews can be very informative, and anything over a 3-star rating can be experimented with.
Cleanliness – By far, the most important aspect when choosing a place where your next meal will be at. If you spot dirty dishes, stained table cloths and creepy crawlies around, head for the hills. If they don’t even care to keep the customer section clean, you don’t even want to know what is happening inside the kitchen.
