Our Package

North Bay Island is a secluded island located near Port Blair spanning over a relatively medium area. Usually, travellers go there on a day trip to both Ross Island and North Bay Island. However, apart from the shoreline and jungle, the island doesn’t offer many sightseeing options for visitors. But still, tourists from all around the world visit North Bay Island owing to its fantastic water activities in the Andamans.

Crystal clear cyan colored water with a shallow shoreline surrounds the island. It offers a magnificent underwater view. The beach is white sand and shaded by dense tropical trees with hints of huts and wooden benches to set the mood. You should not get into the water without a guide. It is not allowed as well. This was done for the protection of the visitors from unwanted sea dwellers and protection of the corals from any kind of interference.

If you are looking for some adventure and aren't afraid to get wet, then travel to North Bay Island as it is popular for water sports and features a plethora of vendors with an affordable pricing structure. As soon as reach the beach, you will find so many small counters for scuba, snorkeling, and lots of other enthralling water activities. The unmatched underwater biodiversity of North Bay boasts of some of the healthiest coral settlements housing various fish species. Some of them are not found anywhere else in the Andaman Islands. The huge coral belts under the two kilometers of the radius near the isle are filled with a coral population that is protected under the care of Andaman Administration. Thus, diving and activity spots change every month.

There is no jetty at North Bay Island. So you will be required to get on the island and board the boats via a floating platform, provided by the government. During heavy waves, the strong platform is not that steady. Also, the sides are only protected by rope. So make sure that you are well-balanced during the transition.

One of the most interesting things about North Bay Island is that it is featured on the backside of Indian Rs. 20 note. Although, the reason has yet to be discovered for that but there is a chance that they did the like the view from the top of the hill. You can reach the hill from where it was taken only by trekking from the forest. So if you like a picture of your own, you should definitely go there.

How to reach North Bay Island?

You can easily reach the island via a boat. The number of large ferries available for transportation is less in number. Generally, the trip includes a visit to Ross Island but private boats can be booked if informed earlier. The boat begins the journey from Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex and reaches North Bay via Ross Island in around half an hour. To make sure that you are absolutely safe during the journey, life jackets, instructions and other measures are taken strictly. Generally, there is a travel guide who will accompany you on your journey. He explains about the history of the islands and the significance of the isle you are about to visit. The boat may take off from the Junglighat Jetty sometimes. But there is nothing to worry as your vendor will notify you about this when you book the ticket.
